<p>Membership committee member <strong><a href="https://www.eiseverywhere.com/ehome/33689/53995/?&amp;" target="blank">Amber Mundinger</a> </strong>brought together a fantastic panel and planned the event sponsored by <strong><a href="http://www.karls.com/" target="blank">Karl’s Event Services.</a> <a href="https://www.eiseverywhere.com/ehome/33689/53995/?&amp;" target="blank">Christina Neault,</a> </strong>Executive Producer of <strong><a href="http://www.mbfashionweek.com/" target="blank">IMG Fashion,</a></strong> and <strong><a href="https://www.eiseverywhere.com/ehome/33689/53995/?&amp;" target="blank">George Strickland</a> </strong>of <strong><a href="http://www.karls.com/" target="blank">Karl’s Event Services</a> </strong>revealed the secrets to running New York Fashion Week – plan, plan, and then plan some more!</p>
<p>The panel discussion, which was moderated by <strong><a href="&lt;a href=" target="blank">Amber,</a></strong> was eye-opening even for the most experienced event professionals.   With so many moving parts in <strong><a href="&lt;a href=" target="blank">Fashion Week</a> </strong>planning – tents, décor, NYC regulations and permits, union labor and unpredictable weather, to name a few – everyone in attendance received some valuable take-away from the session.</p>

<p>As always happens at ISES gatherings, advice and ideas were shared by all. George described how designing, building, and constructing the huge tents used for Fashion Week in both Bryant Park and Lincoln Center is a process involving dozens of people from IMG, NYC, Karl’s and more!  The tents constructed by Karl’s Event Services range from small pop-up event rooms to multi-leveled semi-permanent buildings, and the team uses many of these styles to create the different settings and venues required for Fashion Week. During an energetic Q&amp;A session, George advised an ISES member on the best procedure for building tents in high-wind areas and suggested creative new event locations in the city, while Christina recommended that clients share resources when planning their runway shows.</p>

<p>The Pink  Powered by Moss team views TSE as the beginning of the new season, the new year with new product offerings and a large outpouring of our energy.  It sets the tone for our direction of our marketing and production into the year ahead.</p>
<p>Event professionals gather from around the world, and this year we are in Tampa.  The <strong><a href="http://thespecialeventshow.com/specialevent2012/Public/Content.aspx?ID=1040517&amp;sortMenu=103001" target="blank">Education Program</a></strong> &#8211; with over 10 tracks to choose from &#8211; and <strong><a href="http://thespecialeventshow.com/specialevent2012/Public/Content.aspx?&amp;ID=1017640" target="blank">Showcasing Events</a></strong> kick off on January 24th.  The <strong><a href="http://www.thespecialeventshow.com/specialevent2012/Public/ExhibitorList.aspx?ID=1017620" target="blank">Exhibit Hall</a> </strong>with over 200 vendors opens on the 25th and the entire conference runs through the 27th.</p>
<p>While at TSE, we will meet new people and cavort with old friends.  We will take in new information from <span style="color: #333333;">formal education sessions and conversations with colleagues. In addition to the elaborate events and parties produced in association with TSE, we will view new ideas and trends via the trade show floor. </span></p>
<p>On January 23rd, ISES officers meet for Leadership Training.  <span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif;">Both </span>the training and meeting with fellow ISES leaders from all over the world are<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif;"> invaluable and </span>inform<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif;"> my work throughout the year.</span></span></p>
<p>My role as Chapter President of ISES New York Metro has renewed my excitement for TSE.  From the ISES Education Track to the powerful and lasting connections we make with one another, I am proud to say that ISES adds value to TSE.</p>

<p>This fall saw some great programming starting with our successful opening event <strong><a href="http://isesnyc.com/when-david-beahm-speaks-ises-listens" target="blank">&#8220;An Evening of Innovation.”</a></strong><a href="http://isesnyc.com/when-david-beahm-speaks-ises-listens" target="blank"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-5721" title="Speaker-David-Beahm" src="http://isesnyc.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Speaker-David-Beahm-300x126.jpg" alt="" width="210" height="88" /></a> In October, David Beahm inspired us with <strong><a href="http://isesnyc.com/when-david-beahm-speaks-ises-listens" target="blank">“Making a Living and Retaining Your Sanity in Special Events.”</a> </strong>And, at <strong><a href="http://isesnyc.com/bizbash-new-york-expo-awards-2011-highlights" target="blank">Bizbash 2011</a></strong> our members were treated to professional head shots and our fall membership drive saw a record number of new ISES members join right at the our BizBash booth.  November&#8217;s program, <strong><a href="http://isesnyc.com/catch-that-buzz" target="blank">&#8220;PR Tips from the Pros&#8221;</a></strong> brought together three top-notch professionals who shared their insights with an eager crowd.</p>

<p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>CHANGING THE INDUSTRY:</strong></span></p>
<p>Building upon the success of last year’s inaugural program, our team will again solicit the participation of a broad variety of constituencies to learn about, listen to, and engage with the latest sustainability standards and practices through a comprehensive evening of workshops, panel discussions, interactive social media and networking. The event will focus on providing participants with a range of useful tips, trends, and resources in sustainable event planning, as well as showcasing sponsors and our host venue via the broadest possible outreach. <span style="text-decoration: underline;"> </span><span style="text-decoration: underline;"> </span></p>

<p>The Director of Communications would ideally take ownership of one aspect of Chapter Communications (E-blasts, Website, Social Media or Public Relations) and assist the VP with the following:</p>

<li>Shaping pro-active communication strategy for e-blasts, Social Media and event press coverage</li>
<li>Developing added-value web content and updating chapter website</li>
<li>Designing e-blasts within ISES brand guidelines</li>
<li>Managing Communications Committee members</li>
<li>Graphic or Web Design, Social Media and/or Public Relations background extremely helpful.</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="color: #800000;"><strong>DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS &amp; EDUCATION:</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li>Work with the VP of Programs/Education to oversee educational and program activity for the Chapter&#8217;s regular meetings.</li>
<li> Contribute to the educational endeavors by assisting in selection of appropriate topics and speakers, and helping to shape content.</li>
<li> Play active role in planning and execution of programs, including site selection, venue/vendor coordination, and on-site management.</li>
<li>Supervise and guide Planner of the Month toward a successful execution of their assigned event.</li>
<li>Liaise with VP and Director Communications in development of press releases, invitations, e-blasts and web articles related to events.</li>
</ul>
